The mandate from this year’s respondents is clear: the old order, in which business had the freedom to operate autonomously and without government restraint, is over. Among the global sample of 25-to-64-year-olds in 20 countries, by a 3:1 margin respondents say that government should intervene to regulate industry or nationalize companies to restore public trust.
